SAILORS 2017 kicks off

Editor’s note: the SAILORS program name was updated to Stanford AI4ALL in December 2017 to reflect Stanford University and AI4ALL’s partnership. Read more about the name change, the program, and the partnership here.

We’re excited to welcome 32 rising 10th grade girls to SAILORS 2017, which officially kicks off today at Stanford University. Our students, who come from around the globe, will spend the next 2 weeks diving into the foundations of AI (and making new friends along the way!).

They’ll also collaborate on AI research that will let them apply their new AI knowledge to humanistic projects, or projects that benefit people. These projects range from using computer vision to map the economic status of an area, to using robotics to increase independence and mobility for the elderly, to using big data to identify and diagnose cancer.

We’ll share some of the program highlights here, but for an in-depth view of what our students are working on, follow along with the daily posts on the SAILORS blog: https://stanfordsailors.wordpress.com/

Students had lots of great questions at Fei-Fei Li’s intro lecture

We look forward to an exciting 2 weeks of making space for students to uncover new interests, hear from experts in the field, and get hands on AI experience!
