About AI4ALL Ignite

AI4ALL Ignite is a no-cost virtual accelerator where undergraduate students develop an AI portfolio project with mentorship from industry experts. Participants also benefit from a student symposium to showcase their work, as well as comprehensive training in career readiness. By accelerator’s end, students will be prepared to interview for technical AI internship opportunities.

Our newsletter offers college students valuable (and sometimes fun!) insights into entering the AI industry, exploring emerging trends, and learning more about responsible AI. It also features success stories from alumni now thriving in their AI careers and provides updates on upcoming no-cost opportunities in AI programming.

How AI4ALL Ignite Works

Students enroll in a curriculum uniquely designed for Black, Latinx/e, Indigenous, women, and non-binary college students, which is not available elsewhere. They join an exclusive community of AI4ALL alumni, AI practitioners, and sponsors committed to empowering students in these intersecting identities  to develop the key skills necessary to join the AI industry workforce.

 

This free online program consists of 2 required components.

  • Component 1: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Portfolio Project

    September 2024 - December 2024
    (13 Weeks)

    • Meet weekly with an AI instructor who guides you through the development of an AI/ML portfolio project
    • Collaborate on project with peers from schools across the U.S. and an AI industry mentor
    • Present your AI project at a virtual student symposium for AI industry professionals and other student participants
    • Total commitment: 72.5 hrs – includes live and asynchronous activities
  • Component 2: AI Career Readiness Preparation

    January 2025 - Feb 2025
    (8 Weeks)

    • Meet weekly with AI Career Readiness instructor to optimize your LinkedIn profile, resume, and cover letter
    • Master the AI technical interview with real world interview questions and get actionable feedback on a mock technical interview
    • Meet with recruiters at opportunity chats to learn about their AI internships and entry-level positions
    • Total time commitment: 13.5 hrs – including live and asynchronous activities

Application and Eligibility

  • Fall 2024 Cohort Timeline

    • Jun 17, 2024: Priority Admissions Deadline (recommended)
    • Aug 19, 2024: Final Application Deadline
    • Jun 17 to Aug 19: Students select weekly live virtual class meeting time
    • Week of Sept 2, 2024: AI Portfolio Project & ethics discussions weekly classes begin
    • First two weeks of Dec 2024: Students present projects at virtual symposium
    • Dec 2024- Jan 2025: Winter Break
    • Jan 2025 – Feb 2025: AI Career Readiness portion
    • March 2025: Certificates of completion granted
    • Post-program: Continued access to Changemakers Connect job board and alumni community
  • How to Apply

  • Prerequisites and Eligibility

    • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s and/or Associate’s academic program at a U.S. college/university
    • Be pursuing a major/minor related to Computer Science
    • Have basic programming skills in Python (e.g. CS1) or other coding language
    • Have completed Probability & Statistics and Linear Algebra by first day of program

While AI4ALL encourages that all college students that are eligible apply, our organization will prioritize students whose race, gender, or ethnicity has been historically excluded from AI from the following intersectional identities: Black, Hispanic and Latinx, Indigenous folks, Women and Non-Binary folks.
