AI4ALL, the national nonprofit committed to developing leaders who shape AI for human good, is pleased to announce the appointment of Carlos Pignataro to its Board of Directors.
“Who leads and builds AI is inseparable from what that technology becomes. AI4ALL addresses that at the source, with purpose and rigor: when AI leaders reflect humanity, AI itself becomes more human-centered,” said Carlos Pignataro. “That is not a one-time outcome — it is a self-reinforcing cycle. I am honored to join the board and contribute to the work ahead.”
Pignataro is Founder and Principal of Blue Fern Consulting and serves as Senior Fellow and Program Director for the AI Executives and CISO Councils at The Conference Board, where he convenes senior AI and cybersecurity executives across industries to advance responsible, strategic AI adoption and enterprise governance.
With more than 25 years of technology leadership experience, Pignataro previously held multiple executive roles at Cisco, including Distinguished Engineer, Chief Technology Officer, and Head of Sustainability Technology and Data. In these roles, he drove engineering strategy, innovation, and business impact at global scale, while building more diverse and inclusive teams across organizations.
“Carlos brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise and a clear understanding of how AI is transforming the workforce,” said Bo Young Lee, CEO of AI4ALL. “His experience working with senior leaders across industries, coupled with his long-standing commitment to expanding access to technology careers, will be invaluable as we continue to scale our impact.”
Pignataro is a technology pioneer, prolific co-inventor of 350+ issued U.S. patents and co-author of 59 Internet RFCs.
Alongside his industry and advisory work, Pignataro serves as Board Chair of Code the Dream, a nonprofit that opens pathways to economic mobility through free, intensive training for people with low-income backgrounds and others who are underrepresented in the tech industry, and hands-on apprenticeship experience building social impact technologies that address society’s most urgent issues. He also is a Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors, adjunct faculty at NC State University, a three-time HITEC 100 honoree, and was named Fast Company’s Innovative Leader of the Year in 2021.
Pignataro’s appointment comes as AI4ALL enters its next phase of growth—expanding its work to develop AI leaders and advancing cross-sector initiatives that shape a more human-centered future for AI.
