A message from the AI4ALL Board of Directors
Last week, our summer 2026 Ignite cohort presented their portfolio projects to peers, tech leaders, and funders at our annual symposium. This cohort is the newest addition to the more than 8,000 emerging AI talent that AI4ALL has trained in Responsible AI over nearly ten years. These students are entering a field being shaped at extraordinary speed by a relatively small group of decision makers. They deserve to be among those shaping it, and to do that they need Responsible AI skills from the start. This is the work AI4ALL exists to do.
As with many mission-driven organizations in our field, AI4ALL has felt sharp funding pressures. To keep our work going, the board has made a hard but necessary decision. This week, we restructured the organization, including conducting a reduction in force, so that we can concentrate our energy on what matters most: AI4ALL’s two strongest assets.
The first is our Ignite curriculum, honed through our near-decade of continual learning and iteration. In its current form, Ignite is a 20-week accelerator in which students from across the country build real AI and machine learning projects from the ground up, with responsible AI skill-building woven into how they source data, evaluate models, and weigh the consequences of what they make. Even as AI coursework and workshops spread across higher education, demand for Ignite keeps growing: this summer we enrolled our largest cohort yet, 698 students from more than 170 universities. The second is our alumni community, thousands of early-career Responsible AI practitioners. In our 2026 alumni survey, around 70% reported going on to internships, full-time roles, or graduate study in their field, with titles like software engineer, machine learning engineer, AI engineer, and co-founder. We will keep investing in both.
This focus also shapes our leadership. Dr. Sean Peters will step into the role of Executive Director. Sean has spent six years at AI4ALL, most recently as VP of Programs and Operations, and he built the backbone and shaped the educational philosophy of our college-age programs, including Ignite. Bo Young Lee will be stepping down as CEO and staying on as an advisor. Bo’s voice has shaped both this organization and the wider conversation on responsible AI, and her contributions will have a lasting effect.
AI4ALL’s work will look different from here, but our mission has not changed, and neither has our commitment to the people it serves. We trust you will stay connected as this next chapter takes shape. To stay involved or learn more, reach out here or follow our work on LinkedIn.
