Sometimes, it can feel like everywhere you look, AI is there. This will ring even truer as AI becomes even more deeply integrated into fields like transportation, healthcare, policy, and education. Though we can’t fully predict AI’s impact now, we can start to bring more of AI’s users and developers into the conversation about where and how AI should be used.
That’s why it is critical to get today’s youth involved in shaping the path of AI and tech now.
With this in mind, we coordinated with Techonomy to invite four of our high school-age AI4ALL alumni to attend Techonomy 2017 and write about their learnings for Techonomy’s blog.
In their blog posts, our four alumni — Kat Tian, Irene Yang, Avantika Ghosh, and Ananya Karthik — grapple with questions like, “what more can we do with AI to contribute to the world?” and “how can we use technology to bring people together?” They conclude that “with [the] immense potential [of AI], however, comes immense responsibility” and “instead of alarmist views of how AI could destroy society or jobs, it would serve us better to educate more people from diverse backgrounds on what AI really means.”
